Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Haier XQJ50-31 Agitator 1-2/3-Cubic-Foot Portable Washer

Customer Review: Excellent!
Summary: 4 Stars

My girlfriend and I purchased this machine about a month ago because our new apartment does not have a washer/dryer. After a lot of research we decided on this model and so far have been very happy and impressed with it. It does an excellent job washing clothes and is very easy to use. It also came in great condition. I would have given it 5 stars but for a couple issues.

1) The directions are easy to follow putting it together, BUT- INSTALL CASTERS BEFORE THE BOTTOM PANEL. As other have pointed out, two feet are very easy to take off, and two are very difficult. This is because the two rubber feet are secured on the inside, and unless you remove the nuts they will be almost impossible to remove. With all 4 casters installed, the machine is very convenient and moves very easily.

2) We have experienced a very small leak on the high water level/heavy wash setting. Hopefully this doesn't continue or get worse so we don't have to call in for service- at this point the negative doesn't outweigh all the positives.

3) A small amount of water remains in the machine after washing, so we cannot remove the drain hose when the machine is not in use. Another thing that is not a big deal, but still a little inconvenient, and just a warning to future users to be careful removing the drain hose after use.

Besides these few issues the machine is great and I would highly recommend it! We do all our laundry with cold water to save on hot water and it still does a great job. The spin cycle is very effective and the lint catchers also do a great job. It is on the big side but completely worth it for the extra capacity, and with this and a $20 drying rack you'll never have to go back to the laundromat again. Enjoy!

Customer Review: Fine Little Machine
Summary: 5 Stars

If you're like me, you're reading these reviews wondering if this machine is worth the money. In the case of me and my family, it definitely was. It washes relatively large loads for its small size, easily keeping up with my wife and son and I, and it really gets the laundry clean. I don't know how much this matters but its really quiet, too. It makes a click-whirr-click noise when it runs, and aside from that and the sound of it draining it's practically silent. If you need to wash bedding, it will wash a king size blanket but just the blanket by itself, you'll have to do the sheets separately, there is a trade off for the small size. We have ours in the kitchen and it's not in the way at all. We own an air conditioner and a chest freezer from Haier and they seem to be good appliances for being inexpensive.

Customer Review: First day and I love it.

I received this great little washer today. No shipping damage like I had read in other reviews. The unit is very well packed in it's own box with styrofoam holding everything in place while shipping.

In less than an hour i had it unpacked and setup. Setup involved screwing the bottom plate onto the unit. The bottom plate is not fastened on before shipping so the packing can secure the internal tub from below. The unit also had styrofoam inside the tub securing it from above.

Other than the bottom plate you have to connect the water lines, both input and drain. The input line just screws on. The drain requires you to put it on and secure with a hose clamp.

I was lucky as the input connects using the same faucet connector that my portable dishwasher uses.

I've done 6 loads so far and am amazed at the quietness of this unit.

So far I love it. I'll review again after I've had the unit a while.

Customer Review: Good Quiet and small
Summary: 5 Stars

I waited a few months before i wrote a review. In short it washed well. I got mine with out a single scratch or dent. ( Shipped from phoenix to Los Angeles ) Mine was delivered in 3 days from the date i ordered it.

The instrustions suck butit took no more than 5 minutes to figure it out and it only took 20 minutes till I started my 1st load. Once delivered all you have to do is swap the legs for wheels ( 2 minutes each ) attach 8 screws to the bottom ( 3 minutes ) attach the side hose and the CLAMP goes on the bottom ( seems like common knowledge but after reading the other reviews i guess not )

If you hooking it up to your sink you dont need a "Y" adapter just run 1 line into the "cold" side and adjust your water at the faucet. Over all i like my machine it was $270 worth spending. And all of my clothes are clean.
